One Dime at a Time!

I'm not sure when I found my first dime. Nor can I tell you when I began to see a pattern in how often I found them.

What I do know, is that it has been about 20 years.   That's half of my life, finding dimes.
I will give you some examples.

Okay,  so when I was around twenty one, a few friends and I took an Amtrack to D. C. for a concert.   I found a dime under the seat of the fast moving train.

Just shining before me.

I remember saying to one of my friends then that, "I always find dimes!".

Another time my husband and I,  who happens to be that previous friend that I just mentioned, a couple of years ago went for a drive by the beach on a one night get away.   He took me to this trail between some really gorgeous mansions at the end of it was a large cliff with waves crashing against them.   It was a cloudy , damp and misty kind of morning.   As we overlooked the cliffs and the waves crashing against the large boulders below, there atop a large boulder I see a shiny dime.

And I said as I always do, "Honey,  come here and look.".  Then we both just kind of smile and shrug and say, "Weird!".

More recently,  it was my 40th birthday and my husband surprised me by taking a day off so we could spend the day together.  We went out to a diner for breakfast.   Then we went and sat by the beach for a short while. Followed by a hike at one of my favorite state parks.   It's an old estate where the once stood massive summer homes along a river.   They have since burned down.   What remains is a carriage house, a beautiful garden landscape, a pet cemetery with miles of walking paths.

Anyway we took a longer hike into the estate that day.   Along the trail there was a bench made of stone.   A memorial of sorts. I went over to read what it said,  and there Between some engraved lettering,  sat a dime.

And I said,  "Honey come here and look!". We just look at eachother mystified.

And recently,  I'm at the school where I'm the lunch monitor.   And I am lining the kids up to go inside and I look down and you guessed it ... a dime! But not just a dime,  a play dime.   A fake dime!

I think to myself,
what does this mean?

I just took a picture of it and posted it on Instagram and while posting it I thought why not start a blog.   A blog of the files I find and a little story to go with it.   I only wish that I started sooner, but for now I will start posting One Dime at a Time!
